Preparation and characterization of liquid crystal formulations with bi-continuous cubic structure for cosmetic make-up remover |

Recently, a variety of make-up cleansing products have been released in the cosmetic markets. However, some of make-up cleansing products have a low detergency, skin irritation, oil residue feeling and formulation of stability problems. This might be due to composition and structure of the formulation. In this study, liquid crystal formulations are prepared for the make-up cleansing effect using D-phase emulsification method. Hexagonal. cubic, and lamellar phase in the formulations was identified by analysis of small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS). And, cleansing efficacy for liquid crystal formulation was determined using in vitro method and in vivo method, respectively. As a result of the structure analysis and cleansing efficacy test, bi-continuous cubic phase is the most efficient formulation. We expect that this liquid crystal formulation technology would be helpful for the cosmetic platform technology. |
