제목 A study of polymeric micelles using solubility parameter for cosmetic applications
초록 Polymeric micelles, which are called solubilization formulation, have been widely used as skin-toner in the field of cosmetic industry. Because polymeric micelles do not have emollient part, they rarely have water-holding ability comparing to ordinary emulsion formulation. It is high challenge to keep the transparent appearance and have some emollient in the formulation at the same time since both characteristics are contrary to each other. In order to accomplish this, we found that the solubility parameter of several emollients is accordance with the one of polymer surfactant. In this study, we chose PEG-series hydrogenated castor oil as a main polymeric surfactant (solubility parameter as 8.9). The solubility of the emollients in 1~3 wt% micelle solutions was in relatively good agreement with the polymeric surfactants. The stability of micelle was estimated by measuring the size of micelle with DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), and the shape was confirmed by Cryo-TEM.
