Two-dimensional MXene nanosheet was investigated widely for its potential for fillers in polymer nanocomposites with excellent mechanical and electrical properties. However, polymer-MXene nanocomposite exhibited relatively low thermal stability as decomposition temperature. Graphene oxide has outstanding thermal and mechanical properties compared to MXene. As a bi-filler system, if MXene and graphene oxide are incorporated into polymer matrix, graphene oxide will be able to reinforce the polymer/MXene nanocomposite with better mechanical and thermal. Here, we report PA6/MXene nanocomposite for enhanced mechanical and thermal properties. MAX(Ti3AlC2) was first etched with hydrochloric acid and lithium fluoride. As modifier, Jeffamine D-400 was intercalated into the layer of MXene for better dispersion in polymer matrix. Mechanical properties and thermal stability on several filler loadings were investigated. |
