Effects of Relative Humidity on Mechanical Properties of Submerged Entry Nozzle for Continuous Casting |
초록 |
In the continuous casting process for steel making, the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) is a pathway of molten steel, which is used to prevent oxidation of steel from exposure to air. The changes in mechanical properties could be occurred depending on the environment condition in the manufacturing process of SEN. This study has been investigated the effects of relative humidity (RH) on microstructure and mechanical properties of SEN for continuous casting. The specimens were prepared by mixing of ZrO2, graphite, and phenolic resin as a binder. The mixed powders were stored at 5, 25, 50, 75, and 95% RH for 48hrs using a constant temperature and humidity chamber. The properties such as green density, sintered density, compressive strength, and porosity were evaluated according to relative humidity. As increased humidity level, green and sintered densities were increased by lower glass transition temperature (Tg) of binder because lower Tg improved the mobility and deformation characteristics of binder molecules during compaction. |
