제목 | Morphological Conversion in Single-Layered Films of Diblock Copolymer Micelles by Solvent Vapor Treatment |
초록 | We investigated morphological changes in single-layered films of polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinyl pyridine), PS-PVP, diblock copolymer micelles by solvent vapor treatment. In toluene, a selective solvent for the PS block, nanometer-sized spherical micelles of PS-PVP consisting of the PS corona and the PVP core were formed. From this micellar solution, a single-layered film of micelles was fabricated on silicon wafers or mica substrates by spin coating. The film was made of hexagonal arrays of micelles in short-range order. When the micellar film was exposed to THF vapor, a long-range order of micelles with the narrow size distribution was induced, which was almost perfect hexagonal based on the Voronoi analysis. When the micellar film in long-range hexagonal order was subsequently exposed to DMF vapor, a non-selective neutral solvent for PS-PVP, cylindrical or lamellar morphology was observed depending on the composition of PS-PVP, which was expected as bulk morphology of PS-PVP used. Furthermore, the cylindrical or lamellar morphology was converted back to the micellar morphology by THF vapor treatment. Fig 1. TEM images of a single-layered film of PS-PVP micelles: (a) as spin-coated; (b) after THF vapor treatment; (c) after DMF vapor treatment. PVP blocks were stained with I2 and appeared as dark domains. |
