This paper proposes a developed pressure selection for acetone-methanol separation using pressure swing distillation (PSD). Recently, PSD has received many attention on that it has no 3rd component unlike azeotropic and extractive distillations. It can produce highly-purified products and be environmental beneficial system. Meanwhile, most of PSD optimization are well developed, except for pressure selections. It is simplified or omitted on the conventional PSD optimization although the pressure is significant factor on this system. The total number of stages and heat duty of PSD for acetone-methanol separation are developed by the optimization using proposed pressure selection, when is compared with two conventional cases. The number of stages and heat duty are approximately 38% and 35% less than conventional processes. |
