Synthesis and electrochemical properties of sulfur-carbon materials coated with PANI for lithium-sulfur battery |

Sulfur-carbon materials coated with polyaniline (PANI) for lithium sulfur batteries were prepared by the direct precipitation. Lithium-sulfur battery shows the poor cycle life due to the dissolution of lithium polysulfide (Li2Sn, n > 2) formed during the discharging process. To improve the cycle life, various carbon materials coated with PANI were used as sulfur adsorbing agent. Dispersion of carbon materials/PANI composites prevented the dissolution of lithium polysulfide into the electrolyte effectively and enhanced the cycle performance. Specific surface area of carbon materials/PANI composites was investigated with surface area analyzer. Uniform coating of carbon materials/PANI with sulfur was observed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The interaction between carbon materials/PANI and sulfur was investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD). Electrochemical behavior was investigated with cyclic voltammetry. |
