Although graphene oxide (GO) is considered as one of fascinating materials due to its unique features such as anisotropic and amphiphilic structures in material science community, its fundamental properties have been remained unsolved problems, including exact chemical structure, structural and thermal stability and external stimuli sensitivity. Therefore many studies have tried to understand and identify its fundamental material properties. Here we report the structural and thermal stability of aqueous GO solution via the systematic approaches to change hydrothermal conditions, such as thermal energy and inert and oxidative atmospheres. Due to its metastable properties, dispersion stability and structure properties of GO were susceptible to temperature and different environmental conditions. Additionally, the amount of oxygen functional groups in GO would be controlled by tuning the reaction conditions. |
