Hydrogen independant hydrogenation of levulinic acid to selectively lactone over Ni-Cu/SiO2 catalyst. |
초록 |
Hydrogen independent hydrogenation of Levulinic acid (LA) to γ-valerolactone (GVL) using Formic acid (FA) as a hydrogen source were carried out in vapor phase reactor system over highly active, thermally stable nickel-promoted copper-silica nanocomposite catalysts, which were prepared via a deposition-precipitation method. Among the different Ni-Cu ratio of catalysts, Ni(20)Cu(60)-SiO2 (3:1 weight ratio of Cu to Ni, 80 wt% metal content) showed better activity for vapor-phase formation of γ-valerolactone (GVL). The catalyst selectively converts 100% of LA into 98% of GVL; the remaining 2% is angelica-lactone (AL) under the optimum reaction conditions, and more importantly catalyst exhibited long term stability (200 h) without loss in its catalytic activity. Characterization using TEM, XPS, TPR, XRD, and N2O titration was performed to find the most active phase for LA hydrogenation to GVL and the reason for the long-term stability. |
