Raman Microscopy Applied to the Analysis of Carbon-Based Anode Materials for Lithium Ion Battery |

Carbon-based materials have received considerable attention as negative electrodes. Indeed, graphite serves as a host structure for lithium intercalation and the structure is resilient enough to provide reversibility by allowing easy insertion and deinsertion of lithium. Raman spectroscopy is a pertinent tool that provides unique structural information of carbonaceous materials. By coupling an optical microscope to a conventional Raman spectrometer, the technique becomes a microprobe with a spatial resolution less than 1 ㎛. In this research, to detect the coated soft carbon on the surface of graphite, Raman mapping technique was applied. It is believed that this technique is a powerful tool which can elucidate a distribution of the ratio of ID/IG with the contents of the coated soft carbon. |
