Reverse electroidalysis (RED) is green energy technologies for generating power using the slainity gradient between sea water and river water. Among components constituting the RED system, anion exchange membrane (AEM) and cation exchage membrane (CEM) play important role in transporting cation (Na+) and anion (Cl-), respectively. Important technical issue in the system is how to increase conductivity and permselectivity of membrane. In this research, influences of cationic functional groups on properties of AEM were characterized. We improved the permselctivity and conductivity of the AEM using three types of tetra ammonium salt functional groups such as tetramethylammonium (TMA), 1-methylimidazolium (Imd), quinuclidium (1-Azabicyclo[2,2,2]octane, ABCO). |
