Effect of the addition amount of Dodecylbenzene Sulfonic Acid on the size distribution of asphaltene colloid in solvent deasphalting system |

The enhancement of asphaltene aggregation by an addition of Dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) has been reported from the literature. The dosage of DBSA in solvent deasphalting (SDA) system changes the removal ratio of asphaltene. In this study, the size distribution of asphaltene colloid as a function of the dosage of DBSA (MDBSA) was examined by Zeta sizer. The result showed the size decreases from 0.5wt.% to 1wt.% of MDBSA, and then increases with the further increase of MDBSA. The inversely proportional relation between asphaltene-DBSA size and asphaltene removal ratio was found as well. And, the lowest size distribution was found to be at the same point as the highest asphaltene removal ratio (1wt% of MDBSA). |
