Preparation of Functional Polymeric Film including Scavengers for Copper Tarnish Inhibition |

Copper tarnish is a natural process and a chemical reaction in the presence of moisture or sulfur-containing substances in the air. In this study we have prepared a functional polymeric film including scavengers which have a capable of inhibiting tarnish on copper surface. The scavenger was compounded to make a master batch and the polyethylene film was finally extruded by blow molding machine. Their performance of inhibiting on the tarnish of copper was investigated by a simulation system with the condition such as acid gases, moisture. The rate of water and oxygen transmittance were also measured for the optimization of compounding and their correlation regarding the tarnish of copper. As a result, the functional film including scavengers was confirmed as having a performance to prevent copper from tarnishing effectively. |
