제목 Zr-based metal-organic frameworks with ice-binding moiety for cell cryopreservation
초록 Antifreeze proteins (AFPs) can be utilized in cryopreservation of cells, tissues, drugs, and foods. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) nanoparticles (NPs) can provide periodically arranged ice binding sites by modification of organic linkers, that can control ice crystal growth accurately. In this study, the zirconium (Zr) was adopted as a metal cluster which is well-dispersed and stable in aqueous phase. We explored the effect of MOF NPs size on antifreeze activity as the microcurvature of ice surface can be varied by MOF NPs attachment during recrystallization. The specific ice-binding moiety was introduced to acrylate-functionalized MOF NPs to enhance ice recrystallization inhibition. This work provides a strategy for generating the cost-efficient, mass-producible antifreezing nanoagents which can broaden its biological applications.
