Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)(PHBV) has been developed and commercialized as ideal candidates for the substitution of non-biodegradable polymeric materials in commodity application because of their biodegradability and easy processability. The biocompatibility of hydroxyapatite(HA) is closely related to its similarities with human hard tissues. Scaffolds consist of PHBV and nano-sized HA were prepared using the salt-leaching and Hot-press machine. PHBV/HA was blended with NaCl by the melting blend method. The blends were compression molded into thin sheet of about 1.5mm thickness using a hot-press machine at molding temperature of 180℃. Then, the scaffolds were immersed into an excess amount of water for dissolving NaCl. In this study, the preparation, degradation behavior, surface morphologies and mechanical properties of porous poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)(PHBV) foams are described. |
