Microdamage Prediction of CF/PP Composites under Loading by Electrical Resistance Measurement |

The change in electrical resistance was investigated as a damage index of quasi-isotropic carbon fiber (CF) reinforced polypropylene (PP) under fatigue loading. The load strength was measured during tension and bending test. Prediction of microcrack for CF/PP was detected using changing ratio of electrical resistance. Microdamage during compression fatigue test was changed as electrical resistance changing ratio due to various CF contact points in CF/PP. At compression fatigue test, larger change in electrical resistance was detected. It was proved that microcracking could be detected by electrical resistance measurement under loading test. Real delamination parts was consistent with electrical resistance prediction results. Acknowledgements: This work was supported from Future Project by Hyundai Motor Company, 2012.
