Preparation and characterization of dexamethasone-loaded MPEG-PCLA nanofiber sheets by electrospinning |

Recently, electrospinning technology has been widely used as a processing method to make fibrous scaffolds in tissue engineering and drug delivery systems because of its unique features, such as easy fabrication process and high surface area. For these reasons, we were designed to develop dexamethasone-loaded nanofiber sheets that can release dexamethasone effectively for treatment of bone regeneration using electrospinning technology. MPEG-PCLA nanofiber sheets were prepared by electrospinning. Then, three-dimensional fibrous structures of nanofiber sheets were confirmed by field emission scanning electron microscope. The drug released from MPEG-PCLA nanofiber sheets was determined for a long period of time in vitro by a HPLC. In the present study, it is achieved to fabricate nanofiber sheets that can release dexamethasone effectively in vitro. This approach, dexamethasone-loaded nanofiber sheets, will be useful for development of new treatment models toward bone regeneration. |
