제목 A straightforward route for biomimetic mineralization using vertical N-doped carbon nanotubes
초록 We introduce biomimetic mineralization of vertical nitrogen doped carbon nanotubes (NCNT) as straightforward route for carbon-based mineral nanocomposites. NCNTs are carbon nanotubes where a part of carbon atoms in the graphitic side wall of CNTs are partially substituted with N atoms. The partially doped quaternary and pyridinic N atoms in the graphitic plane of NCNTs play a role of the nucleation site for biomimetic mineralization. Using the nitrogen doped sites along the CNT backbone, SiO2 and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) nanoshells can be readily formed on the surface of a vertical NCNT arrays. Owing to the superior material properties of NCNTs and straightforward processing via biomimetic mineralization, our approach offers a new opportunity for carbon-based mineral nanocomposites.
