The preparation of TGF-β-Low Molecular weight chitosan conjugates and characterization |

It is well established that injured articular cartilage has limited potential for healing on its own due to a vascularity and the absence of stem cells in this tissue. In our study, we have developed novel, injectable Chitosan-Transforming growth factor-β1 conjugate, consist of low molecular weight chitosan(LMWC), delivery vehicle of TGF-β1, to prolong biological activity of TGF-β1 through the controlled release of TGF-β1 and evaluated the efficiency of Chitosan-TGF-β1 conjugate in the treatment of articular cartilage defects in a rabbit model. |
