Since its outstanding optical, electrical, and mechanical properties, graphene has become one of the most promising materials for broad application in engineering field. In this study, we synthesized single-crystalline graphene (SCG) in a large area using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method and analyzed it compared to polycrystalline (PCG) in micro- and macroscopic scales and before and after graphene transfer. The single-crystalline nature of SCG was confirmed with low energy electron diffraction, optical microscopy after liquid crystal coating, and selected area diffraction pattern in transmission electron microscopy. Structural defects can also imply the crystalline quality of the graphene sheets, which is confirmed using Raman spectroscopy and graphene oxidation. The SCG had superior electrical, electromechanical, and barrier properties than PCG, consistent with the analysis results. |
