Mandarin peel is a promising resource for obtainingnatural flavonoid such as hesperidin and narirutin. In this study, the effectof extraction parameter such as solvent type, time, temperature, and solid–liquidratio on flavonoid recovery from mandarin peel was investigated. The extractionconditions for the most effective recovery of flavonoid from mandarin peel wereas follows: the solvent of methanol:dimethyl sulfoxide mixture (50:50, w/w), time of 1 h, temperature of 40°C, solid–liquid ratio of 1:10(w/w). Under these conditions, the recovered flavonoid contents were determinedto be 11.6 mg hesperidin and 2.2 mg narirutin, respectively, per g–biomass. Theseresults are expected to provide useful information for converting mandarinpeel, food processing residue, into value-added materials. |
