In liquid crystal displays, the switchable liquid crystals are kept in a cell formed by two glasses plates. Liquid crystalline materials can also be used as optical film needed for the functioning of liquid crystal display or to improve the properties of such display. The advantage of photo-polymerization over thermally initiated processes is the freedom in choosing the polymerization temperature enabling the selection of the most optimum phase and molecular order. Another advantage of this process is that complex molecular architectures become possible, and the photo-polymerization process will stabilize anisotropic properties. We have investigated the orientation and tilt angle related of LC thickness in nematic liquid crystal film. |
