제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Discotic Liquid Crystalline Hydrazone Compounds
초록 Acetoacetamides having two 1,3-diketo groups were prepared by the reaction of aromatic amines with diketene. Diazotization of aromatic was carried out with nitrous HCl or TFA. Discotic hydrazone compounds were prepared by diazo coupling reaction. The 1H NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy study showed that the compounds had hydrazone structures. The liquid crystalline properties of disk-type compounds were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarized optical microscopy (POM). Compound having flexible alkyl tails showed discotic nematic phase. Structure analysis of mesophase is performed by X-ray diffraction measurment (XRD).
