Ethylene is one of the major building blocks in petrochemical industries, and catalytic dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene is an attractive route due to its low operating temperature and coke formation. The dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene on Fe3O4@SiO2 was investigated with different shell thickness of SiO2 on the Fe3O4 nanoparticles by forming a porous core-shell structure. The thickness of silica shell was controlled by changing the concentration of the sol-gel precursor and coating duration. On the proper thickness of SiO2 shell showed an enhanced stability and productivity of ethylene. The structural properties of Fe3O4@SiO2 were characterized by N2 sorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and so on. |
