Conjugated polymers are widely used for sensors because of their optical properties and signal amplification. Among conjugated polymers, polydiacetylene (PDA) is efficient sensing element by their unique color transition from blue to red and fluorescent emission at red phase. The chromatic transition of PDA is caused by the electronic configuration change of PDAs' conjugated backbone. Upon exposure to the external stimuli such as thermal, pH, chemical and mechanical stimulus, the conjugation effect will endow the chromatic properties to PDA molecules. PDAs have been prepared in many different forms such as monolayers, films, and colloidal liposomes. We developed a novel PDA embedded hydrogel microstructures synthesis platform in microfluidic channel using flow lithography techniques and controlling the physicochemical property of the matrix polymer. This PDA embedded hydrogel microstructures have great potential for label free on-chip biosensor. |
