제목 Suppressed Jahn-Teller effects in manganese hexacyanomanganates with charge redistribution triggered by fast kinetics
초록 Na-ion batteries (SIBs), which replace Li with inexpensive Na, have received considerable interest owing to the abundance and even distribution of Na compared to those of Li. Metal hexacyanometallates (known as Prussian Blue analogues (PBAs)) have been considered as the promising cathode materials for SIBs, because of the inherent advantages of PBAs involving large channel sizes that allow accommodating Na ions in aqueous electrolytes without the requirement for dehydration, resulting in fast kinetics. Manganese hexacyanomanganate has the highest capacity among PBAs, accompanying the abnormal insertion of two Na ions in a sub-unit cell. However, the structural distortion by Jahn-Teller effect of high-spin Mn(III) aggravates the cyclability of manganese hexacyanomangate. In this work, we report the charge redistribution mechanism which is the new electrochemical reaction of manganeses hexacyanomanganate under the fast system kinetics. As a result, the unstable Jahn-Teller effect is mitigated and the reversible redox reaction of high-spin Mn(III) maintains for >70 days, whereas the counterpart test with only Jahn-Teller effect diminished the reaction for <35 days.
