Synthesis and characterization of bimetallic ZnCo-ZIF-71 for an efficient catalytic CO2 conversion at room temperature |

A bimetallic zinc and cobalt zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZnCo-ZIF-71) catalyst was synthesized by self-assembly method using metal acetate and 4,5-dichloroimidizole in methanol solution. Various physicochemical analysis were performed to characterize the synthesized catalyst and to confirm the existence of uniform distribution of Zn and Co atoms throughout the catalyst system. CO2-epoxide cycloaddition reactions were carried out at room temperature and high temperature condition to test the catalytic performance of ZnCo-ZIF-71. The degree of linker defects in bimetallic ZIFs were characterized based on molecular simulations. A plausible reaction mechanism containing the role of ZnCo-ZIF-71 catalyst was proposed on the basis of DFT calculations. |
