제목 | Controlled Dehydrochlorination of Poly(vinyl chloride) for Fabrication of Membrane with Polyacetylene-like Structure |
초록 | Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) is one of the most universal plastics and widely used, e.g. for pipes, electrical cable and furnishings due to its low cost and good processibility. The consumption of PVC is increasing year by year, which causes the problem of waste treatment. PVC waste is not environmentally friendly. Also the chlorine gases generated in the combustion process are very hazardous. Therefore, the recycling of PVC waste is becoming an important issue. Chemical modification of PVC can be an alternative to recycling. PVC can be modified by elimination of HCl with a strong base or by substitution with another functional group. In this study, PVC membrane was dehydrochlorinated by elimination using Potassium tert-butoxide. Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), UV-visible spectrometer showed the length of polyene sequences and formed double bonds. X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS) data was used to detect chlorine (Cl) content of the membranes. |
