Cyclic polymers exhibit distinct properties from the absence of their chain termini in contrast to their linear precursor polymers. Multicyclic polymers with complex cyclic topologies have attracted research interest in the past decades, since they were expected to display unique properties based on their complex architectures. However, there remain synthetic difficulties involving tedious multi-step and labor purifications for the preparation of multicyclic polymers. Therefore, one-pot synthesis is regarded to simplify the complicated procedures for multicyclic polymers. In this study, the well-defined bicyclic polystyrene was prepared by combining atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) and “Click” chemistry. ATRP, azide substitution of chain-end and “Click” chemistry were carried out in one pot. The structure of synthesized bicyclic polymer was characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and SEC. |
