제목 Improving stability of HER catalysts against oxygen-crossover via decoupling active sites for HER and ORR
초록 Alkaline electrolysis is one of the most realistic technologies to produce green hydrogen gas. The cathode of alkaline electrolysis which is catalytically active for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) suffers from undesired oxidation caused by an oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), a spontaneous reaction under applied potential on the cathode due to oxygen gas crossover through the porous separator from the oxygen-evolving anode. We report NiFeP@Ni_NC, the bifunctional catalyst for HER and ORR, with decoupled active sites for ORR and HER, where ORR catalytic pyridinic N in N-doped carbon layer protects HER catalytic Niδ+ in NiFeP from undesired ORR, securing excellent bifunctional stability for NiFeP@Ni_NC. The strategy to improve HER stability presented here is expected to be widely applied to various HER electrocatalysts system in alkaline electrolysis.
