Increasing the selectivity and efficiency of electrochemical carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion is an important challenge to address energy and environmental problems. Although various materials and strategies have been studied to improve CO2 conversion performance, most studies still focus on low-index facets or single elements and have limitations in further improving selectivity and efficiency. Here, we introduced gold (Au) and palladium (Pd) into the step-sites enriched Cu via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene growth method. During CVD process, step-sites with high-index facets and alloyed surface were generated. Contrasting product selectivities resulting from different reaction pathways can be expected on the bimetallic surface with enriched step-sites. In consequence, the selectivity changes according to the metal ratio at both Au-Cu and Pd-Cu catalysts. Au-Cu showed exclusive selectivity towards CO and Pd-Cu to CO and CH4. |
