제목 Effect of eliminating the water layer in Halloysite nanotube for efficient hydrophobic modification
초록 Halloysite nanotubes (HNT) have good stability, easy modification, and good affinity with an organic solvent. but it has less compatibility with the PDMS matrix that has been widely used for organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN).

But the HNT has two problems to get the hydrophobicity 1. Lack of active site 2. water layer which inhibits the hydrophobic modification. so, In this study, Hydrophobic HNT (mAHNT) was produced through two processes: acid treatment and baking. In the Acid treatment step, the Al layer, the Water layer is decreased, and the active site is increased. In the baking step, the Water layer is completely gone, and an improved hydrophobic functional group is made. It is investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The result shows that the baked mAHNT can be an efficient filler for OSN applications.
