In this study, we introduce the method to synthesize anisotropic magnetic-patchy Janus microparticles for stabilizing Pickering emulsion drops. For this, we first synthesize amphiphilic Janus microparticles, in which seeded monomer swelling and consecutive photo-polymerization is utilized. One of the biphasic compartments has the acetate group which can be electrically coated with polyethyleneimine (PEI). Then, magnetic nanoparticles were attached on the PEI-treated surface of the bulb. The interaction between the Pickering drops is characterized by dense suspension rheology. Finally, we demonstrate that our magnetic-patchy Janus microparticles can assemble to form a stable Pickering emulsion which can be easily recovered by external magnetic field. |
