New Formulation and Characterization of Complex Olmesartan medoxomil/Hydrochlorothiazide |

Recently, the complex formulation of two drugs is being actively studied. In this study, complex formulation was prepared using Olmesartan as immediate release layer and HCTZ as sustained release layer. Olmesartan affiliated to biopharmaceutics classification system class-II, is a poorly water soluble drug. We prepared the solid dispersions of olmesartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic. It reduces the amount of water in the body by increasing the flow rate of urine. We confirmed the dissolution rate of drug which was prepared by manufacturing. We analyzed morphological feature of solid dispersion by employing a SEM. Then, crystalline property of solid dispersion was confirmed through XRD and DSC. Also, the chemical change of solid dispersion was confirmed by FT-IR. In vitro dissolution test was used to analyze the dissolution rate of solid dispersion. The prepared solid dissolution olmesartan confirmed the dissolution rate at pH=1.2. |
