제목 | Tissue penetrating stent for photodynamic treatment of nonvascular tumor |
초록 | Drug eluting stents (DES) that increase local concentration of hydrophilic drugs are considered emerging biomedical devices for efficient local remedy with high drug concentration and low systemic toxicity compared to conventional cancer therapies such as intravenous chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Despite there is a progress in drug eluting stents, there are still obstacles to solve such as low penetration efficiency (PE%) of drug. This study demonstrates the newly developed photodynamic tissue penetration (PDTP) combined DES (PDTP-DES) which are highly efficient in the tissue penetration. We fabricated stent adopted PDTP technology as a coating membrane to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). To prepare the PDTP-DES, photosensitizer was incorporated in a coating membrane that consists of drug conjugated to polymer. In this study, the results were revealed that nonvascular tumor growth was highly inhibited without side effects compared to existing DES systems. |
