The catalytic graphitization, crystallization, exothermic, and electro properties of polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fibers with and without electroless Ni-P coatings of various heat treatment temperatures were studied. The surface and structural properties of the carbon fibers were determined by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. P content in the Ni-P coatings was measured by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The thermal characterization of the carbon fibers was studied by thermo-graphic camera and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The electrical conductivity of the carbon fibers was obtained by measuring the surface resistance with 4-pin probe method. |
