Chiral Self-Discriminated Coordination Polymers and Their Applications in Various Sensors |

Chiral supramolecules have great potential for use in chiral recognition, sensing, and catalysis. Therefore, people have made a lot of efforts to utilize the chirality. Chiral supramolecular structures, made as one of the results of such efforts, can be used to study chiral self-sorting phenomena. In this study, we synthesized the homochiral and heterochiral coordination polymers (CPs) using reactions between chiral organic ligands and metal sources. In the heterochiral CPs, we can observe a chiral self-discrimination, which is not the common case. Interestingly, they exhibited photochromic phenomena and photoswitchable conductivity because of the formation of radical anions upon UV light illumination. In addition, they have been applied to photoluminescent sensing for hydrazine and chiral analytes. We also tried chemiresistive sensing of protonic solvents and amines. All of these approaches provide novel ways of synthesis and sensing applications of the chiral CPs. |
