There is a growing demand for renewable, eco-friendly and safety polymers or polymer composites. Especially, antibacterial plastics with suitable mechanical and thermal properties are attracting in various fields such as carbon fiber reinforced thermo-plastic(CFRTP). However, thermoset polymers used for CFRP has less flexibility and low variability according to temperature lead to lower utilization. Vitrimer, a novel thermoset polymer, has the advantage of being able to secure flexibility and recycled by crosslinking exchange reaction. Herein, imine group-based vitrimer CFRP with antibacterial properties are prepared. The vitrimer with imine groups shows good chemical and physical stability, recyclability, and antibacterial properties as expected. In addition, vitrimer CFRP shows good antibacterial activity and has mechanical properties similar with bare CFRP. This study can provide a useful strategy for a novel antibacterial and recyclable CFRP with high mechanical properties. |
