Selective modification of conducting polymer thin films via femtosecond laser |

Femo-second (fs) laser induced nano-structuring in conducting organic thin films has been studied. In an optimized condition of fs laser irradiation on conducting organic films of P3HT polymer, the surface was changed into an embossing structure and also the crystalline order and orientation were affected. The embossed area showed special orientational change of P3HT crystals into face-on (lying down) configuration and also enhanced amount of face-on P3HT crystals after laser irradiation. In addition, the orientational variation could be controlled by the polarization change of the laser. These results imply that orientation of P3HT crystals can be selectively controlled into face-on configuration by the fs-laser irradiation. We expect that the P3HT configuration can be selectively controlled into arbitrary direction in the film by changing the irradiation angle. |
