제목 Characterization of Inorganic Zeolite Filled TerPP, CoPP Composites and Films
초록 Polypropylene is often superseded by its copolymer in view of its poor impact properties. Ethylene and butylene included polypropylene is a choice for high ductility application. We choose ethylene included bi-component CoPP and ethylene, butylene included tri-component TerPP as composite matrices. Zeolite fillers are melt blended with these matrices in a laboratory twin-screw extruder for composite making. The compounded pellets and films are then used for characterizing mechanical and impact studies. The impact strength and yield stress of the composites do not improve by any further loading of zeolite, but the modulus increases gradually with filler loading. Morphological study was done for filler mixing efficiency measurement and image analysis. The image analysis was carried out on scanning electron microscopic photomicrographs of the stretched film with the help of special image analyzer software. Number, weight and z-average air hole diameter was compared with respect to the stretching ratio of the film. The ultimate purpose of this study was to justify the possibility of making suitable porous composite film. Finally, our results showed that these two matrices could be new choice for making future multiphase polymeric porous film by stretching it unidirectionally.
