Electrochemically Synthesized Multiblock Nanorods of Conducting Polymers for Sensing Biomolecules |

There is currently considerable interest in fabricating nanostructured organic-inorganic hybrid materials. The gold - conducting polymers (gold-Ppy(COOH)-Ppy(NH2)) nanorods were fabricated by simple electrodeposition process in porous alumina template controlling their aspect ratio with the electrical current. Multisegmented rods can be easily synthesized by changing the plating solution and accordingly varying the potential of the deposition. The surface of the polymer in the rod can be chemically modified with biomolecules such as dye-labeled proteins and DNA. In this study, we have attached the amine group modified pyrrole block to the end of carboxylic group modified polypyrrole block so that it is possible to dectect biomolecules absorbed on conducting polymer rod surface. We would show how one can use Gold-Ppy(COOH)-Ppy(NH2) nanorods for sensing biomolecules. The synthesized polymer nanorods have been characterized by AFM, FE-SEM and optical microscope. |
