Imidazoles are used as hardeners in a variety of epoxy resin systems. Imidazoles catalyze the homopolymerization of epoxy compounds. For some practical purposes, epoxy resins are required to be stable during storage and to be cured when they are needed. This leads to the birth of latent curing agents, including the microencasulation of curing agents. In this study, microcapsules containing 2-phenylimidazole were prepared by a solvent evaporation method with polycaprolactone as a polymeric wall material. These microcapsules were characterized by DSC, SEM, FTIR, and TGA. And the microcapsules were used as hardners for epoxy resins. |
