Determination of crystal structures of electrochemically sodiated phases NaxFe2(MoO4)3 (x=1 and 2) by powder X-ray diffraction |

Fe2(MoO4)3 has received an attention as an electrode material for Na ion batteries (NIBs). Two phases of Fe2(MoO4)3 have been known: the monoclinic low temperature phase and the orthorhombic high temperature one. The previous reports are mainly focused on synthesis and the methods of improving the cycle and rate performances. Bruce et al. reported only the space group of Na2Fe2(MoO4)3 without sodium positions in the unit cell. Fu et al. suggested a probable sodium site in a partially sodiated Fe2(MoO4)3 by STEM. However, the detailed crystal structures of the sodiated NaxFe2(MoO4)3 (x=1 and 2) has never been determined at the best of our knowledge. Herein, the crystal structures of the electrochemically sodiated phases of monoclinic NaxFe2(MoO4)3 have been determined and refined for the first time from powder X-ray data. |
