Vanadium dioxide (VO2) undergoes semiconductor-metal phase transition at the ambient temperature. Due to this fact, it becomes perspective material for thermos-sensors, thermos-switchers, optical switchers and shutters, IR sensors, thermochromic coatings, smart coatings for window, holographic elements, and elements of energy-independent memory. Discovered over 50 year ago, VO2 is the most promising thermochromic materials. However, related materials have not been commercialized because of problems related to cost-efficient preparation, stability and performance. In this work, we have successfully produced a large amount of unique hollow VO2 particles using specially designed spray pyrolysis process. These studies suggest that spray pyrolysis process is easy to scale up for the practical applications of the fabricated materials. |
