제목 Fabrication of Photochromic Contact Lens using encapsulated Dyes
초록 Photochromic is a phenomenon that changing of color by absorbing light due to the transformation of chemical structure.In this study, we blended photochromic dyes into contact lenses to protect the eyes from excessive light and UV rays as outdoor activity increases. When a photochromic layer is introduced into a soft contact lens, it absorbs harmful wavelength light in a short wavelength band, including ultraviolet rays, and changes the molecular structure of the photochromic material, resulting in a colored state with a specific color. Also, the photochromic dye was encapsulated to reduce dye emission from the lens. The photochromic contact lens was characterized by FT-IR, contact angle, equilibrium water content, light transmittance, oxygen permeability. We expect that it can be used as functional lens like UV-blocking lens and color lens.
