제목 In-situ Interfacial Coacervation of Silica Nanoplatelets with Polyacrylic Acid for Production Highly Stable Macroemulsion Drops
초록 This study reports a novel interfacial stabilization system which is engineered by in-situ coacervation of silica nanoplatelets (SiNPs) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) at oil-water interface. To give surface wettability to SiNPs, we grafted controlled amounts of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and hexyltrimethoxysilane. Thanks to high adhesion energy of SiNPs, we could obtain monodisperse macroemulsion in the microfluidic channel. We showed that the structurally reinforced interface could be engineered through the electrostatic coacervation of amine-functionalized SiNPs and carboxylic acid groups of PAA. The macroemulsion with this coacervate membrane exhibited excellent long-term storage stability without any coalescence.
