제목 Development of biobased chemicals from renewable and sustainable feedstock
초록 Many efforts are dedicated to replace irreversible fossil resources with renewable and sustainable feedstock because fluctuating oil price and global warming by carbon dioxide exerts the pressure on petroleum-dependent chemical industry. Biomass-derived carbohydrates regenerated by photo-synthesis are the most abundant carbon source on earth. C6-Sugars obtained from biomass-derived carbohydrates can be selectively dehydrated to give furanic chemicals, potentially alternating to the existing phenylic chemicals. Here, I would like to present transformation of biomass-derived carbohydrates into various furanic chemicals our lab recently developed, including synthesis of 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural (HMF) or its derivatives synthesis from various biomass feedstock and oxidation of HMF to 2,5-diformylfuran (DFF) / 2,5-dicarboxylic acid (FDCA).
