In order to guide the rational design of novel high-performance conjugated semiconductors, we have prepared three benzo(1,2-b:4,5-b')dithiophene (BDT)-based polymers (PBDTTPD-Cn, where n is the number of carbon atoms between alkoxylated oxygen and the branching point) by systematically mobing the alkyl-chain branching point, We denibstrate that a subtle change of the branching position in BDT core and induce a critical impact on polymer packing and preferential backbone orientation in thein films; PBDTTPD-Cn polymers adopt correlat with a dramatic difference in solar cells perfomance. Thereby, in comparing the solar cell performances of the other two polymer (C3,C4), the higher JSC of 11.6 mA/cm2 for C1 is obtained due to its predominantly face-on orientation and smoother surface in thin films, which results in superior power conversion efficiecies as high as 4.56%. |
