제목 Strongly Fluorescent Organic Nanoparticles in Aqueous Media
초록 Recently organic nano-structures have attracted much attention due to their high potentials for new opto-electrical devices and biological applications. In this work, we report on the novel class of highly fluorescent organic nano-particles prepared from a rod-coil fluorophore (17EO-CNBPST). The 17EO-CNBPST was soluble in most of organic solvents and did not show any fluorescence in dissolved state. In contrast, the 17EO-CNBPST formed very fine fluorescent nano-particles due to its strong self-assembly capability in the aqueous phase. It was found that the fluorescent emission of the nanoparticles in the aqueous state is extremely strong although the 17EO-CNBPST itself is non-fluorescent in organic solutions. This enhanced fluorescence emission is strongly related to the aggregation-induced enhanced emission (AIEE) phenomena.
