Nano-cellulose is an attractive material that is eco-friendly and can be the foundation for various bio-related industries due to its excellent bio-physicochemical properties. However, in the conventional method of extracting nano-cellulose from wood systems, the problem exists in chemical process which requires longer time and its high lignin contents. In our study, seaweeds are more competitive than other biomass in terms of growth time and cultivation area. We developed the most optimal conditions in terms of time, cost, and environment with efficient process and demonstrate that nano-cellulose can be extracted from seaweed at high yield. The extracted cellulose combines polymers to give new directions to the manufacture of bio-plastics. |
